JEFFREY EPSTEIN, SEXUAL ABUSE LAW, RUMORS AND THOSE
WHO PARTICIPATE
Jeffrey Epstein
|
The #MeToo movement spotlighted sexual misconduct in the workplace. The men involved were/are brilliant, successful, powerful and wealthy.
Convicted sex offender the late Jeffrey Epstein's current world headline making scandal also involves men who are powerful,
wealthy and for a variety of reasons - successful. The women in the headlines didn't aqueous over fear of losing
paychecks or employment; rather because they were underage.
Last week nine more women came forward claiming in a lawsuit that they were sexually abused by Epstein,
with the incidents spanning from 1985 to 2007 — and involving children as young as 13, according to the lawsuit filed in
Manhattan Supreme Court.
The women, who filed suit as Jane Does, assert they were between the ages of 13 and 23 when they were either
sexually assaulted or raped by the multimillionaire, and in some cases, his associates.
The accusers’ lawyer, Jordan Merson, stated the alleged abuse occurred in New York City, Florida, New Mexico and the US
Virgin Islands, resulting in the woman left with mental health issues including post-traumatic stress disorder,
eating disorders and issues that led to attempted suicide.
Female were required to cross - not just state lines - but international boundaries. Numerous laws come into play and with high profile incidents come high prices attorneys.
According to International Human Rights Law taught by the University of Pavoda in Veneto, Italy one of Europe’s oldest and most prestigious seats of learning. Founded in 1222 as a school of law. Pavoda is the second-oldest university in Italy and the world's fifth-oldest surviving university.
The Lack of Consent of a Victim of Sexual Violence
In the Court’s Rules of Procedure and Evidence, Rule 63 establishes that the Court’s Chambers cannot require corroboration to prove the crimes they are investigating under the Court’s Statute, in particular, crimes of sexual violence.
In the past, there have been instances where a woman’s testimony was insufficient. Further evidence was required for such testimony to be admissible in court. To prevent this from reoccurring, Rule 63 was established. Under this statute, a woman’s testimony is regarded as sufficient to establish an act of sexual violence.
Another crucial and long-debated issue is the means to provide evidence of a victim’s lack of consent. The victim’s consent has actually been used as a defense against charges of rape and sexual violence.
Rule 70 and Consent
A new approach to consent was established by Rule 70. It has 4 key points:
Consent cannot be inferred by reason of any words or conduct of a victim where force, threat of force, coercion or taking advantage of a coercive environment undermined the victim’s ability to give voluntary and genuine consent;
Consent cannot be inferred where the victim is incapable of giving genuine consent.
Consent cannot be inferred by reason of the silence of, or lack of resistance by, a victim to the alleged sexual violence.
Credibility, character, or predisposition to sexual availability of a victim or witness cannot be inferred by reason of the sexual nature of the prior or subsequent conduct of a victim or witness.
Rules 71 and 72
Rule 71 restates that:
A Chamber shall not admit evidence of the prior or subsequent sexual conduct of a victim or witness.
This rule discourages a defense based on the victim’s consent. This is to avoid blame and re-traumatization of the victims who are, in some cases, repeatedly asked about the violence they underwent.
Rule 72 sets a specific procedure to be followed when there is the intention to introduce evidence on the victim’s consent.
The intention should first be expressed to the Court. After which, the Chamber considers the probative value of the evidence,
having regard for the opinion of the Prosecutor, the defense and victims (or their legal representatives). The Court
then decides whether or not the evidence is admissible and if it is, for which purpose.
Prince Andrew, the Duke of York
|
Allegations in the Epstein scandal include those against Prince Andrew, the Duke of York which have rocked the royal household.
A statement released by Buckingham Palace after a BBC interview with Virginia Roberts, one of his accusers, states:
“It is emphatically denied that The Duke of York had any form of sexual contact or relationship with Virginia Roberts.
"Any claim to the contrary is false and without foundation.
“The Duke of York unequivocally regrets his ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein.
"Epstein’s suicide left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims.
"The Duke deeply sympathises with those affected who want some form of closure.
"It is his hope that, in time, they will be able to rebuild their lives.
"The Duke is willing to help any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigations if required.
“The Duke has already stated that he did not see, witness or suspect any behaviour of the sort that subsequently led to Jeffrey Epstein’s arrest and conviction".

ART AND ABOUT
TWO LAST NIGHTS! SHOW BUSINESS IN GEORGIAN BRITAIN
Stage Door 1823 by William Heath
|
displayed throughout the whole Museum, this interactive exhibition delves into the mechanics of theatre and concert going in eighteenth and nineteenth century Britain. With more than 100 objects on display, discover the surprising similarities and astonishing differences between theatre and festival-going then and now, including advertising, ticket sales, audience behavior and dress code.
Going to a show flourished as a popular pastime in the eighteenth century and as a result the entertainment industry saw rapid expansion: many theatres were built and music festivals began in both London and the provinces. These growing forms of entertainment contributed to the vast range of audience experiences we know today.
Enjoy a fascinating glimpse of behind-the-scenes roles, from theatre managers, set designers and scenery-painters, to the refreshment sellers and ticket collectors. Learn how leading artists of the day, including Hogarth, Hayman and Lambert, crossed over into the world of show business as set designers and scenery painters.
Two Last Nights! explores key venues in London and the provinces, from the theatres of Drury Lane, Covent Garden and Richmond, to the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens and the Foundling Hospital Chapel, as well as the provincial music festivals of other major cities in Britain.
The exhibition is divided into four sections.
Georgian Theatre
Highlights in this section include caricatures and drawings of Georgian audience members, who came to see and be seen. Original advertising, programmes and tickets are displayed alongside information about how Georgian audiences purchased tickets and detail the development of the modern-day ‘box office’.
Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens
An important highlight of the exhibition is an original eighteenth-century supper box painting, Devil to Pay, by Francis Hayman (1708-1776) which depicts the famous actress Kitty Clive.
Foundling Museum Chapel
Two Last Nights! reveals the importance of the Foundling Hospital Chapel as a music venue in Georgian Britain. George Frideric Handel was a fervent supporter of the Foundling Hospital and from 1749 he gave an annual benefit concert, raising thousands of pounds for the Hospital.
Music Festivals
Visitors can discover how performers capitalised on the summer season and logistical complexities of staging a music festival, including the transport of staging, singers and instruments between venues, travelling only by horse and cart.

SETH MACFARLANE GIVES $1 MILLION TO RAINFOREST TRUST TO STOP DEFORESTATION
Seth MacFarland
|
perhaps best known for creating the hugely successful television shows
Family Guy, which is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary,
the winner of five Emmy Awards, six Grammy Award nominations and an Academy Award
nomination for his work in television, music and film, through the Seth MacFarlane Foundation,
he continues to be an avid supporter of science communication,
the climate crisis, cancer research and equal rights for all.
“The science is clear on the connection between preventing deforestation and addressing the climate crisis. Rainforest Trust’s commitment to protecting habitat and its inherent biodiversity is fundamentally important. I wanted to support Rainforest Trust’s direct-action approach, and I hope others will join me in supporting this crucial work,” said MacFarlane.
The Seth MacFarlane Foundation made the gift to Rainforest Trust’s Conservation Action Fund to support the work of establishing protected areas that prevent deforestation and protect habitat, work that is vital for the health, and the future, of the planet.
“Protecting intact forests is the best way to help species and our global ecosystem. Saving rainforests and tropical
habitat has been our mission for more than 30 years. We are thrilled that Seth is adding
his voice in support of our work. His trust in our ability and the positive impact we make
is incredibly meaningful and motivating,” said Rainforest Trust Acting CEO Mark Gruin.
Rainforest Trust’s successful model builds partnerships with local conservation
partners to facilitate conservation from the ground up. This year,
Rainforest Trust has protected rainforests across the tropics including:
Peru – more than 100,000 acres of indigenous lands protected through land titling in the Peruvian Amazon
Ecuador – more than 2,000 acres of rainforest safeguarded in both the Ecuadorean Amazon and Chocó (We
stern slope of the Andes)
Democratic Republic of the Congo – more than 117,000 acres in community reserves in the Congo Basin,
a vast rainforest with little formal protection.
JON BON JOVI'S FOUNDATION Jon Bon Jovi

third nonprofit Soul Kitchen Community Restaurant at Rutgers University's Newark Campus, the school announced. Bon Jovi attended a groundbreaking ceremony at the school on November 22, 2019 ahead of the restaurant's scheduled grand opening on January 22, 2020 with the eatery opening to the public the following day.
The foundation already has two restaurants located in Red Bank and Toms River New Jersey which have fed nearly 106,000 people, with 46 percent of the meals being meals earned by volunteering and 54 percent paid for by donations, according to the organization.
Rutgers and the JBJ Soul Kitchen cited growing rates of food insecurity on college campuses as a motivation behind the new location.
Recent national studies have found that over 30% of students at four-year institutions experience food insecurity. In response to the growing rate of students struggling with food insecurity, JBJ Soul Kitchen, Rutgers University-Newark and Gourmet Dining, have partnered to open JBJ Soul Kitchen RU-N on campus at the Robeson Center, Rutgers said in a statement.
"JBJ Soul Kitchen RU-N is a non-profit community restaurant where locally-sourced ingredients, dignity and respect are always on the menu. Our model is unique, in that we ask paying guests from the campus community to make a minimum donation of $12 to eat a delicious and healthy three-course meal. Guests pay with cash, credit card, raider or dining dollars, and are encouraged to pay it forward by making an additional donation or volunteering to cover a meal for a guest in need.
"If guests are unable to pay, we invite them to learn how they can be part of the JBJ Soul Kitchen RU-N community by volunteering at the restaurant or elsewhere on campus."

WHEEL OF FORTUNE pulled it together in exemplary form after Pat Sajak was rushed into emergency surgery on November 8, even as the audience was waiting for the Wheel taping to begin. One taping was canceled but the rest remained on schedule as Vanna White - whose job skills have been touted as her ability to put on a different dress for every taping and her knowledge of the alphabet based upon a light in a square - took over as host - brilliantly rising to the occasion.
Led on stage by a bevy of Disney characters, the effect was charming. Having the Disney characters take over the Vanna White letter turner role was sheer genius. The three weeks of Vanna hosting shows begin airing on Monday, December 9, 2019.
As for Sajak, when he was able to attend a game of his beloved Washington Capitals, as he did accompanied by his daughter and get clever on Twitter - as he did over Thanksgiving - you know he's recovered.
On November 28, 2019 Zajak posted: At our Thanksgiving meal today we discussed politics (“Who votes for more cranberries?”), gender issues (“Is that a boy bird or a girl bird?”) and climate change (“That oven is making it warm in here!”). Hope you’re having a good one, too!

A RANSOMWARE ATTACK took place on The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s (STNJ) database and ticketing system. last week-end, which was the eve of the run of A Christmas Carol.
According to a release: "The attack was widespread, hitting several companies of various types and sizes in the immediate area and beyond, including the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts, also in Madison. STNJ has confirmed that no patron data has been compromised in any way, and the run of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol will continue as planned, through December 29th.
While patron data remains encrypted and invulnerable to the perpetrator, the data is still inaccessible to STNJ staff, including the Ticket Office. This will make ticketing A Christmas Carol a very challenging endeavor for the company, and so in order to continue their current run of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, STNJ is asking patrons who currently hold tickets to email the Box Office at SaveOurSeats@ShakespeareNJ.org with their name, performance date and time and seat locations. This will allow STNJ to gather information on which seats are still available for sale. STNJ is dedicated to completing a successful run as planned, and will, at the very least, be able to offer seating for day-of ticket buyers once those with reserved seating have been identified and/or seated.
Artistic Director Bonnie J. Monte said, “This ransomware attack has threatened our very existence. As one of America’s most renowned Shakespeare theatres, and one of New Jersey’s most important cultural institutions, we are determined that the show will go on!"
